Martin Adams through, Andy Fordham out at Grand Slam of Darts

Martin Adams is through to the second round of the Grand Slam of Darts, but Andy Fordham bows out after losing to Michael Smith.

Martin Adams has progressed through to the second round of the Grand Slam of Darts with a 100% record after holding on to register a 5-4 win against Steve Beaton.

The three-time Lakeside champion had already qualified ahead of his clash with Beaton, but he made it three triumphs out of three to qualify as the winner of Group B.

However, fellow BDO representative Andy Fordham is out after he lost 5-2 to Michael Smith, who hit checkouts of 160 and 150 on his way to victory.

Michael van Gerwen missed double 12 for a nine-dart leg on his way to a 5-3 success against Steve West, and he is joined in the last 16 by Kim Huybrechts, who comfortably defeated Mark Oosterhuis by a 5-2 scoreline.

Adrian Lewis and Peter Wright have both progressed through to the next stage with 5-3 victories against Wayne Jones and Mervyn King respectively.

However, Ian White and Scott Mitchell missed out, despite emphatic 5-1 wins against Jelle Klaasen and Dave Chisnall.
