Fabian Cancellara fit to defend Olympic title

Fabian Cancellara has claimed that he is ready to defend his time-trial title on Wednesday after his crash during the road race on the weekend.

The Swiss rider has managed to begin training following the crash after x-rays confirmed that he had not suffered any serious injury.

Cancellara said: "I feel better with every hour passing.

"I have to be positive, otherwise I would have been home already. I'm a hard man."

A statement from the Swiss Olympic team has indicated that a decision on Cancellara's participation in the time-trial will be made tomorrow.
