Neff beats Swiss teammate to gold

Under-23 world champion Jolanda Neff has secured the first gold medal at the European Games in Baku with victory in the women's mountain bike race.

The 22-year-old finished over two minutes clear of the field, having led much of the event after an early break from the pack.

Neff's Switzerland teammate Kathrin Stirnemann clinched the silver, just finishing ahead of Poland's Maja Wloszczowska, who completed the podium.

The Swiss riders dominated the event, with Linda Indergand finishing fifth, just behind Eva Lechner of Italy.
