England, and Stuart Broad, endured a luckless morning in Antigua as the West Indies built a strong position in the second Test.
At lunch on day two the hosts were perfectly positioned to press for a series-clinching 2-0 scoreline, just 61 behind on 126 for one.
It might easily have been different had a compelling opening spell from Broad received just rewards but the session yielded a solitary wicket – Ben Stokes removing the fortunate John Campbell for 47 – and 96 runs.
Kraigg Brathwaite's patience saw him to 48 not out at the break, occupying 145 balls, with Shai Hope 22no.
Looking to prove a point after being left out of the thrashing in Barbados, Broad's first over of the morning saw Brathwaite flick to square leg where substitute fielder Keaton Jennings dived forward but failed to cling on with his fingertips.
Broad was celebrating having Campbell caught at slip soon after, only for DRS to show the ball flicking arm instead of bat. Frustration turned to despair when a booming edge from Campbell, on 27, sailed to third slip where Jos Buttler shelled a regulation chance.
After several more delightful deliveries to the left-hander, and one loopy top edge that just evaded the charging Jonny Bairstow, Broad's stint ended without joy.
Stokes denied Campbell a devil-may-care half-century, Buttler making partial amends by gathering safely at second, but it was a solitary success.
Brathwaite continued grinding down the five-man attack, with Hope in solid support.
England wicketkeeper Ben Foakes was off the field having been sent for X-rays on his injured right hand, leaving Bairstow to don the gloves.
