Chris Gayle puts West Indies in charge

West Indies take control of first Test

Chris Gayle has moved to within 15 runs of a century as the West Indies took control of the first Test against New Zealand in Antigua.

Spinner Sunil Narine finished with figures of 5-132 to record the best figures of his Test career to date.

Some late attacking from Doug Bracewell allowed the Black Caps to finish on 351 in their first innings.

However, the tourists failed to take early wickets with the hosts reaching 145-0 at the close of play.

Gayle will begin day two on 85 and will be joined by Kieran Powell, who made 58 before stumps.
