Sachin Tendulkar is just 33 short of raising his bat for a 100th international century as India fought back the in third Test against the West Indies in Mumbai.

Tendulkar was unbeaten on 67 when bad light ended the third day's action with the hosts on 281-3.

After the tourists added 15 to their overnight 575-9, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir combined for an opening stand of 67.

Darren Sammy found life as he bowled Sehwag through the gate, while Gambhir cruised to an untroubled 55 before he was caught behind off Ravi Rampaul.

However, Tendeulkar stood firm with VVS Laxman until fading light ended play.
