West Indies have named wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin as the new captain of their Test match team.
The 29-year-old replaces Darren Sammy, who will continue to skipper the side in Twenty20 competition.
Ramdin's first task is to lead his country to victory in their three-match series against New Zealand, which starts on June 8, and the glovesman, who averages 27.25 with the bat in 56 Tests, has described his appointment as a "huge opportunity".
He told reporters: "It is an honour to be named as captain of the West Indies Test team. This is a huge opportunity and as a unit we are capable of representing the people of the West Indies.
"I am taking over from Darren who did a good job while he was at the helm. He is a very humble and hard-working cricketer and during his time at the helm he gave his all to the job.
"My first assignment will be against New Zealand at home and this promises to be a very exciting series."
Sammy was handed the West Indies Test captaincy in 2010 and led them to series wins over Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and New Zealand, but lost five of his last six matches in the role.
