Chanderpaul century puts West Indies in charge

Veteran batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul has hit his 25th Test century to help put the West Indies in the ascendancy against Australia at the close of day two in the series opener in Barbados.

The 37-year-old finished the first innings unbeaten on 103, while Darren Bravo record a solid 51 and captain Darren Sammy contributed 41, as the hosts declared on 449/9.

The declaration forced Michael Clark's Australia to face an awkward end to the final session, but openers David Warner and Ed Cowan posted 27 and 13 respectively as the tourists closed on 44/0.

Warner and Cowan faced only 9.5 overs as bad light brought play to a premature close.
