Adrian Barath pleased with James Anderson's absence

Adrian Barath claims that he is happy he will not be facing James Anderson when the West Indies meet England in the third Test this week.

West Indies opening batsman Adrian Barath has admitted that he is pleased he will not have to face James Anderson in the third Test at Edgbaston this week.

Anderson has been rested for the match despite being eager to take part and Barath believes that the England seamer's absence could prove to be a boost for the tourists.

When asked whether he is happy that Anderson would not be appearing at Edgbaston, Bararth replied: "Yes, any opener would say the same.

"It was really a challenge facing him. He's bowled well. He's swinging the ball both ways.

"He is deservedly England's cricketer of the year. There's no doubt in that, facing him."

Steven Finn or Graham Onions will be competing to replace Anderson in the side.
