Mahela Jayawardene wrestles back control for Sri Lanka in Colombo

Mahela Jayawardene's century has put Sri Lanka back in control on day one of the second Test against South Africa in Colombo.

Dale Steyn took two wickets in as many balls before lunch to seemingly put South Africa in a commanding position in the series decider, but Jayawardene's 34th Test ton has allowed the hosts a bit of breathing space.

The veteran batsman swept Dean Elgar's full toss past short fine leg to pick up two runs in the final over before tea to bring up his century, much to the delight of the Colombo crowd.

Angelo Matthews is also at the crease, and the Sri Lankan captain is just two runs short of his half-century.
