New Zealand level Twenty20 series with South Africa

An unbeaten century from Martin Guptill helps New Zealand level their Twenty20 series with South Africa in East London.

New Zealand have levelled their Twenty20 series with South Africa following an eight-wicket win at Buffalo Park in East London.

The match was marred by a floodlight failure which saw the sides limited to 19 overs each.

The tourists were set a target of 169 via the Duckworth-Lewis method and an unbeaten 101 from Martin Guptill helped them over the line.

The hosts were put into bat first and they posted a score of 165-5 from their allotted overs as Faf du Plessis top scored with a knock of 65.

Henry Davids chipped in with 55 runs, while David Miller also contributed 33 with the bat.

Brendan McCullum (17) and Rob Nicol (25) put up some resistance for the tourists, but it was down to Guptill to hit the four runs that his side needed from the last ball to seal the victory.

The two teams meet in Port Elizabeth on Boxing Day to play out the third and final match of the series.
