Steyn doubtful for Champions Trophy opener

South Africa's star paceman Dale Steyn could miss Thursday's ICC Champions Trophy opener against India in Cardiff because of a side strain.

Steyn, 29, struggled during Monday's warm-up against Pakistan, bowling only five overs at The Oval.

South Africa team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee said: "At this stage we are unable to determine whether he will be available for the first match against India in Cardiff. However, we will be assessing and treating intensively on a daily basis."

The Proteas' second match of the competition is against Pakistan on Monday at Edgbaston.
