Dale Steyn pinpoints the conditions on day two as the first Test's turning point.

South Africa seamer Dale Steyn has said that the overcast conditions on day two were the turning point that helped the Proteas take control of the first Test, which they went on to win by an innings and 12 runs.

England had taken control on the first day, reaching stumps on 267-3, but Steyn came out and took advantage of the low cloud cover to take two key early wickets, from which point South Africa dominated the match.

Steyn has pinpointed that early spell in day two as the turning point. "After day one, we were probably thinking 'how can we get a couple more wickets?'", Steyn told Sky Sports News.

"[On day two] we had a little bit of luck. There was some overcast conditions and the ball did move around a little bit.

"We got lucky with a couple of wickets. [There was] a drag on from Cookie, who'd done pretty well the day before so I suppose that morning set it up for us."

Steyn took 5-56 in England's second innings.
