South Africa declare on 347-8 in first innings against New Zealand

SA declare with a 302 lead

South Africa have declared on 347-8 in their first innings as they dominate the first Test against New Zealand on day two in Cape Town.

The hosts took a stronghold of the opening Test of the series by bowling New Zealand all out for 45 yesterday and a strong innings by Alviro Petersen allowed South Africa to make an impact at the crease.

While Petersen was dismissed for 106 today, AB de Villiers took control of the bat by reaching 67 runs on day two while Robin Petersen fell for five, which prompted the hosts to declare.

New Zealand will reply at the crease chasing a 302 lead set by South Africa.
