Robin Peterseon has insisted that South Africa are not satisfied with claiming the number one ranking in one-day international cricket.
The Proteas replaced England at the top of the ICC standings after victory over Alastair Cook's side at the Rose Bowl earlier this week.
However, Peterson believes that South Africa have other targets in mind and that they are not "settled" as the number one side in the world.
The spinner said: "It is definitely a fantastic honour but the hard work only lies ahead for us now.
"We are pretty happy with the way we're going about our business at the moment, but we always say we are a team on a journey.
"We're not really settled at number one and we have other things we want to achieve as a team."
The tourists will be looking to defend their status as best in the world in the third ODI at The Oval on Friday.
