AB de Villiers asks for patience as captain

New South Africa one-day captain AB de Villiers has asked for fans to be patient as he prepares for his new role.

The 27-year-old succeeds Graeme Smith as the captain and will take charge of the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.

"I'm younger and less experienced than Graeme, so expect a few mistakes," he said.

"I also won't be scared to try out new things, to express a bit of flair, hopefully to the benefit of the team."

Albie Morkel returns to the South African ODI squad for the first time in a year for the series against the Sri Lankans.
