Brisbane Heat through to Big Bash semis

Brisbane Heat have cruised to an eight-wicket victory over Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash T20 tournament.

A semi-final clash with Melbourne Renegades now awaits them on Tuesday.

The Hurricanes started slowly and found themselves struggling on 3-84 after Ricky Ponting was caught by James Hopes off the bowling of Chris Sabburg.

Jonathan Wells and Owais Shah then rescued the innings with a 66-run stand to drag the hosts to a competitive 150-3 total.

However, the result never looked in doubt as Luke Pomersbach smacked 82 from 42 to record a commanding win.
