Azhar Ali guides Pakistan past 400 runs in second Test against Bangladesh

Azhar guides Pakistan past 400 mark

Azhar Ali has continued his dominance with the bat by helping Pakistan go beyond the 400-run mark in the morning session on day two of the second Test against Bangladesh.

The tourists closed day one on 323-3 thanks to a third-wicket stand of 250 between Azhar and Younis Khan, who was eventually dismissed on 148.

This morning, Bangladesh managed to steal an early breakthrough by sending Misbah-ul-Haq back to the pavilion after the batsman hit nine runs off 22 balls.

Shakib Al Hasan claimed the wicket by bowling Misbah out, but the hosts' bowlers struggled for momentum as Azhar kept things ticking for Pakistan.

The 30-year-old brought up his 150 in Dhaka and continued to dominate as he reached lunch unbeaten on 173.

Asad Shafiq will return to the crease alongside Azhar for the afternoon session as he managed to get to the interval unscathed on 58.

Pakistan are currently 428-4.
