Pakistan, Bangladesh draw first Test

A record-breaking innings from Bangladesh batsman Tamin Iqbal has ensured that the first Test match with Pakistan has ended in a draw.

Bangladesh went into the final three sessions needing to bat out the day, and although their opening partnership between Iqbal and Imrul Kayes was brought to an end for 312, they never looked likely to suffer defeat in Khulna.

Once Kayes had been dismissed, Iqbal took centre stage to register only the second double-century by a Bangladesh batsman in Tests, equalling the record set by Mushfiqur Rahim against Sri Lanka in 2013.

Iqbal was eventually out for 206 to leave his side on 399-3 but by tea, they had moved 155 runs clear of Pakistan with just one session left.

During the final session, Shakib Al Hasan made a quick-fire 76 to take his team past 500 before play was brought to an early halt with the draw inevitable.
