Northamptonshire sign Australia's Jackson Bird for 2014

Northamptonshire announce that Australia's Jackson Bird has signed for the club for the 2014 season.

Northamptonshire have announced that Australia paceman Jackson Bird has agreed to join the club for the 2014 season.

The 26-year-old, who featured in the Ashes Test at Chester-le-Street in Durham during the summer, will be available for 10 County Championship matches and seven Twenty20 fixtures.

Chief Executive David Smith told the club's official website: "The signing of Bird alongside Maurice Chambers and Graeme White will see the completion of the clubs' recruitment policy for next season."

Bird suffered a suspected stress fracture of the back in the summer and has not played competitively since.
