Middlesex promoted to Division One after defeating Leicestershire

Middlesex win Division Two title

Middlesex have been crowned Division Two champions after beating Leicestershire by five wickets.

The home side bowled their opponents out for 306 after starting the session at 222-7 on the third day of the match at Grace Road.

Middlesex suffered a brief scare when they were reduced to 90-5 after setting a target of 124. However, John Simpson and Gareth Berg stood firm at the crease, scoring a combined 46 runs to secure victory.

The champions, who last played in the top flight in 2006, recorded a 13-point lead over county Surrey.
