Junaid Khan ruled out of World Cup

Pakistan bowler Junaid Khan is ruled out of the World Cup with a thigh injury.

Pakistan seamer Junaid Khan has been ruled out of the upcoming World Cup due to a thigh injury.

The 25-year-old picked up the injury in training last month, but after being given the chance to prove his fitness, the Pakistan medical staff have decided that he will not be fit enough to take part in the tournament.

Junaid, who has taken 75 wickets in 48 one-day internationals, is expected to be replaced in the squad by Bilawal Bhatti.

"It's a heartbreak for me," Junaid revealed in a statement. "I couldn't pass the fitness test and am not able to play the World Cup. All my prayers are with the team."

Pakistan's preparations for the tournament have been hit by a number of setbacks, with Umar Gul missing out due to a knee problem and Saeed Ajmal still suspended after being found guilty of having an illegal bowling action.
