New Zealand in control against Pakistan in second Test

New Zealand bowlers Tim Southee and Neil Wagner have taken five wickets between them to reduce Pakistan to 76-5 at stumps on the second day of the second Test match.

The home side began the day on 77-2 but they were soon reduced to 119-5 as only Jeet Raval (55) was able to move past 50 in Hamilton.

Colin de Grandhomme also posted 37 but it took an unbeaten 49 from BJ Watling and a run-a-ball 29 from Southee to take New Zealand to 271 all out, with Sohail Khan being the pick of the Pakistan bowlers with 4-99.

However, it did not take long for the home side to seize control of the contest as Southee took three quick wickets to leave Pakistan on 12-3 after nine overs.

The tourists rallied through Babar Azam (34*) and Asad Shafiq (23) but before the end of the third session, Wagner picked up two wickets in two balls to leave Pakistan facing a deficit of 195 runs with just five first-innings wickets remaining.
