Starting the session on 162-2, Tom Latham reached 137 not out at the close of play to help the Black Caps build a solid foundation at the crease.

Ross Taylor was the only wicket to fall after tea when he was dismissed by Yasir Shah for a disappointing score of 23.

Latham will be joined out in the middle by Corey Anderson (seven not out) when play resumes on Tuesday.
