New Zealand's Vettori 'confirms' retirement

Daniel Vettori has revealed that he will retire from one-day international cricket after New Zealand's World Cup final.

The 36-year-old will compete in his 295th ODI at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday after the Black Caps sealed victory over South Africa in the semi-finals this week.

According to the Daily Mail, after arriving in Melbourne with his teammates, Vettori said that it was "pretty obvious" that Sunday will be his final ODI for his nation.

"It's not what I'm thinking about," the publication quotes Vettori as saying. "It's about enjoying the game, enjoying the build-up to a World Cup final."

Vettori was 18 years old when he made his New Zealand debut against Sri Lanka in 1997.
