India sneak past Bangladesh in rain-interrupted first ODI

India defeat Bangladesh by seven wickets in a rain-interrupted first one-day international in Mirpur.

India won a rain-interrupted first one-day international against Bangladesh by seven wickets in Mirpur this evening.

The Bangladeshis, after winning the toss and choosing to bat, weren't interrupted in their innings and were strong in the middle order, finishing on 272-9 from their 50 overs.

India needed 273 to win, but after strong starts from Robin Uthappa (50) and Ajinkya Rahane (64), they had to put their run chase on hold because of heavy rain.

Once the match was ready to restart they only needed 150 to win via the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Bangladesh instantly got rid of Cheteshwar Pujara, but couldn't prevent defeat as India reached their victory target with an over to spare.
