India captain MS Dhoni named by bookie in IPL fixing case?

India captain MS Dhoni is reportedly named in an investigation relating to match-fixing in the Indian Premier League.

India captain MS Dhoni has reportedly been accused of being involved in a match-fixing case relating to the Indian Premier League.

The Hindustan Times reports that Superintendent of Police G Sampath Kumar has stated that a bookmaker named Kitty claimed that Dhoni and Gurunath Meiyappan were part of a "deal" relating to illegal activity in the IPL.

The statement is said to have been included in a report given to the Supreme Court by the Justice Mukul Mudgal committee, who are investigating fixing in cricket.

Kumar told the publication: "We were investigating a fake passport case when we came across information related to betting. We interrogated a man called Kitty, who talked about Dhoni and Meiyappan."

Dhoni's agent Arun Pandey said: "I haven't seen the report yet. The matter is subjudice and scheduled for hearing in Supreme Court on March 7, so till then I would like to request people to refrain from speculating."

The alleged revelation is related to an investigation Kumar conducted last year when he was part of the police's internal security division.
