Samuels leads Windies fightback

An unbeaten 94 from Marlon Samuels has helped the West Indies recover to 188-5 after the opening day of the second Test against England in Grenada.

Two wickets apiece in the first two sessions of a rain-affected day put the tourists on top at the National Cricket Stadium in St George's.

Chris Jordan (2-40) then trapped Jermaine Blackwood (26) lbw to leave the Windies struggling at 129-5, with more than an hour of play left.

However, Samuels's knock saw the hosts put on 59 for the sixth wicket before bad light halted proceedings.

The right-hander will pick up on Wednesday morning six runs from his century, while Denesh Ramdin is six not out overnight.

Both sides drew last week's first Test in Antigua after a rearguard innings from Jason Holder saw the West Indies to safety.
