Pakistan stifle England as first Test heads towards draw

Pakistan lose just one wicket during the middle session of the final day of the first Test with England as the match peters out towards a draw.

Pakistan have reached tea on the fifth day of the first Test with England on 102-3, giving them a lead of 27 runs heading into the final session in Abu Dhabi.

After taking two quick wickets during the opening three overs of Pakistan's second innings, England had given themselves hope of an unlikely victory, but the hosts steadied the ship during the second session.

They had fallen to 47-3 after Mohammad Hafeez was run out for 34, but Younis Khan (40) and Misbah-ul-Haq (26) guided their side to the next interval with seven wickets still intact.

England had their moments in the field as they looked to pressurise Pakistan, but with just two hours of play remaining, it appears inevitable that the opening contest of the three-Test series will end in a stalemate.
