England back in contention against stubborn India in Mohali

An impressive bowling and fielding display sees England drag themselves back into contention on day two of the third Test against India in Mohali.

England have dragged themselves back into contention on day two of the third Test against India in Mohali.

India, cruising on 148-2 in reply to England's 283 all out, lost three wickets for eight runs after tea thanks to an impressive fielding display from Chris Woakes and Jos Buttler.

Ben Stokes, who had been reprimanded by the International Cricket Council for making "inappropriate comments" on day one in an exchange with India's fielders, went on to remove opposition captain Virat Kohli for 62.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja then shared an unbroken stand of 67 as India closed on 271-6, 12 behind, to leave the Test delicately poised.

The tourists, who are 1-0 down in the five-match series, are waiting on the fitness of Haseeb Hameed, who did not field after taking a blow to the hand while batting.
