Slow going for Sri Lanka on day three against England

Slow going for Sri Lanka

Kumar Sangakkara led the way as Sri Lanka frustrated England during the first session on day three of the first Test at Lord's.

The tourists began the day on 140-1 and were only able to add 72 runs on an overcast day in London.

There was a brief rain delay, but the umpires rightly decided to keep the players on and wait for the shower to pass.

England did manage to take one wicket and it came off the bowling of James Anderson, whose vicious bouncing delivery was too good for Kaushal Silva, edging it through to Matt Prior.

Sri Lanka finished the session on 212-2, 363 runs behind England's first-innings total. Sangakkara is 73 not out, with Mahela Jayawardene unbeaten on 29.
