Wright hails "special" innings

Luke Wright has described his innings as "special" after he helped England beat Afghanistan in their Twenty20 World Cup opener on Friday.

The batsman hit an unbeaten knock of 99 in Colombo to seal his side's passage through to the Super Eights of the competition.

"It was a special evening for me, something I've wanted to do," the 27-year-old told Sky Sports News. "I was desperate to get back and try and win games for England."

Wright's score of 99 is England's highest by a batsman at a T20 World Cup.
