Trott retires from international cricket

Jonathan Trott has announced that he is to retire from international cricket following England's Test series against the West Indies.

The batsman returned from more than a year's absence after suffering a stress-related illness, but struggled for runs during the drawn series in the Caribbean.

The ECB confirmed the 34-year-old's decision after he scored just 72 runs in six innings during the three-Test series, which finished with a five-wicket defeat.

Trott played 52 Tests for England, and was named the ICC Cricketer of the Year in 2011.
