Ben Stokes admits to being 'excited' by England's current rate of progress, having picked up an ODI series win over Bangladesh to make it three in a row.

All-rounder Ben Stokes has insisted that England can become the world's best one-day international side if they maintain their upwards trajectory.

England came out 2-1 winners in their series with Bangladesh, sealed by a four-wicket triumph in the deciding clash in Chittagong on Wednesday.

That victory made it three in a row for Stokes and his side, following home wins over Sri Lanka and Pakistan earlier this year, and the 25-year-old - who was named Man of the Series against Bangladesh - is hopeful that progress will continue at its current rate.

"It's really exciting," he told Sky Sports News. "If we carry on like this we'll achieve our target of being world number one. The team we have had together for the last 18 months have been playing unbelievable cricket."

England are currently fifth in the ODI rankings, behind Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and India.
