Joe Root is fully aware of the how tough England's Test tour of India will be later this year.

England batsman Joe Root believes that his nation will face a "massive challenge" from India during November's Test series between the two nations.

Yorkshire batsman Root, who has been included in the senior squad for the first time for the tour of India, has been tipped to replace former captain Andrew Strauss as an opener for the side.

Speaking about his inclusion, the 21-year-old has admitted that he has benefited from being able to call upon the experience of fellow Yorkies Geoffrey Boycott and Michael Vaughan.

"It's going to be a massive challenge going out there, it always is for anyone going to India," he told BBC Radio Rive Live.

"I've been lucky enough to catch with [former Yorkshire and England openers Geoffrey Boycott and Michael Vaughan] and they've always been very helpful. It's always nice to know I can ask them for advice if I need it."

The first match of the series starts on November 15.
