Monty Panesar eager for England return

Essex spin-bowler Monty Panesar says that "the desire is still there" to play for England.

Monty Panesar has expressed his desire to earn a recall to the England Test team.

The spin-bowler has not represented his country since the fourth Ashes encounter back in December 2013.

However, despite his prolonged absence, the 32-year-old is hopeful that he can capture the attention of the selectors by producing some good form for Essex.

"I still want to get back in the England team. I feel there is more cricket ahead of me than behind," he told Sky Sports News.

"I feel if I put in some hard work, and some strong performances, particularly early in the season, then you never know. The desire is still there."

Panesar has taken 167 wickets at an average of 34.71 from his 50 Test outings.
