Graham Onions out of first Test

Graham Onions has been ruled out England's opening Test match against South Africa at the Kia Oval tomorrow.

The pace-bowler has been struggling with a thigh strain of late and was forced to miss this morning's final practice session.

Captain Andrew Strauss has since confirmed that the Durham bowler will play no part against Graeme Smith's side.

The omission of Onions is likely to see Tim Bresnan retain his place in the starting lineup, while fellow bowler Steven Finn is expected to be named the 12th man.
