Mick Newell: 'I can lead the rebuilding process for England'

Mick Newell believes that he is the right man to lead the rebuilding process for England.

Mick Newell has insisted that he can rebuild the England team if he is given the opportunity to become the new head coach.

Nottinghamshire's director of cricket is believed to be one of the candidates to replace Andy Flower, who left his post in January, and the 49-year-old believes that he can improve the current squad's morale.

"I want to bring an atmosphere of relaxed professionalism into the dressing room," Newell told Sky Sports News.

"That is what I have done here for 12 years. I'm used to building and rebuilding teams. That is very much what I've had to do over the years - changing players, changing staff.

"I've got an awful lot of experience to bring and that is what I hope to put on offer."

Newell's Nottinghamshire side take on Lancashire in their County Championship opener, which begins on Sunday.
