Kevin Pietersen's England career over: Twitter reacts

Sports Mole looks back over the Twitter reaction to the news that Kevin Pietersen's England career is finished.

The ECB confirmed last night that Kevin Pietersen would no longer be under consideration for international duty with England.

It is news that has been met with a mixed response, although almost all have agreed that the 33-year-old is one of the best batsmen to have ever taken to the crease for England.

Below, Sports Mole has picked out some of the reaction to Pietersen's expulsion on Twitter.

"Looks like Kevin Pietersen has played his last game for England. Can only assume he is unmanageable otherwise he'd be England's 1st pick."
Former England footballer Michael Owen

"I care about the England team and that's why I want all the best players in the side. Its sad that we can't manage someone like @KP24."
Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan

"Time will tell whether its right to drop @kp24 . One thing is for sure.Watching England from now on will be far less entertaining."
Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann

"Bit of clarity re my position..and I, like the rest, have no idea of the facts ...KP24 is the best batsman to play for Eng that I have seen."
Former England cricketer and coach David Lloyd

"Hard to understand the @KP24 situation. Huge talent, poorly managed. Good leaders deal with mavericks. Bring out the best in them."
Former England footballer Gary Lineker

"What a joke leaving @KP24 out !! This is what you get when England keep employing yes men as men in charge. Top player who would still be playing for any other team in world cricket. EG GAYLE WEST INDIES, WATSON AUSTRALIA - a few examples."
Former England bowler Darren Gough

"My feeling on KP sacking is if u get rid of a player based on non cricketing reasons u need 2 explain wot they r. Not good enuf 2 say nothing."
Former England cricketer Adam Hollioake

"Obviously @KP24 face doesn't fit. There is nothing better than watching/working/playing with a genius. They are the ultimate challenge."
Former England bowler Ronnie Irani

"Can't believe what's happening with KP! Stay strong boss!"
West Indies cricketer Ronnie Sarwan

"Gob smacked at news of @KP24, unreal decision!!! #disgraceful."
Former England bowler Simon Jones

"At a time when u wld think England should b nurturing their best players they score an own goal losing the great @KP24."
Former Australian batsman Damien Martyn
