Craig Kieswetter "surprised" by England call-up

Craig Kieswetter has admitted that he did not expect to be called up to the England squad for the World Twenty20 as a replacement for the injured Luke Wright.

Craig Kieswetter has admitted that he did not expect to be called up to the England squad for the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.

The wicketkeeper-batsman has been brought in after Luke Wright was ruled out of the tournament with a side strain.

The Somerset man has said that he is determined to make the most of the opportunity.

"I was surprised and delighted," he told BBC Sport. "I'll do as well as I can to put my hat in the ring.

"The competition had started and they'd gone with their squad. I thought I'd probably missed this World Cup. I was getting ready for pre-season with Somerset.

"I was actually batting when I got the call and I had to try and organise all sorts of bits and bobs and kit while I was out there in the middle. The 12th man had to keep running on and off, so it was pretty chaotic."

England take on Sri Lanka in their second match of the Super 10 stage in Chittagong on Thursday.
