Former England bowler Bob Appleyard passes away aged 90

Former England and Yorkshire bowler Bob Appleyard has died at the age of 90 following a lengthy illness.

Appleyard took 31 wickets in nine Tests for his country at an average of 17.87.

Starting his first-class career as a 27-year-old, he claimed 708 wickets between 1950 and 1958.

Appleyard was part of England's successful Ashes-winning team in Australia in 1954-55.
