England vs. New Zealand abandoned

Rain has caused the first day of the second Test between England and New Zealand to be called off at Headingley.

After several pitch inspections throughout the day, the umpires have decided to suspend play until Saturday morning.

There was no play before or after lunch as persistent rain prevented any cricket from taking place in Leeds.

The hosts will be looking to wrap up a series victory over the Kiwis when the match gets underway.
