Alastair Cook to miss Sri Lanka clash

England skipper Alastair Cook is poised to miss the second ODI with Sir Lanka after sustaining a groin strain.

England skipper Alastair Cook is poised to miss the second one-day international with Sir Lanka today after sustaining a groin strain.

On Saturday, the England and Wales Cricket Board tweeted that the left-hander would be assessed after complaining of tightness in his groin.

Consequently, Eoin Morgan will now captain the team at The Riverside Ground this afternoon in Cook's absence.

"Cook has tightness in his right groin and will be assessed ahead of the game tomorrow," the ECB confirmed via their official Twitter account.

England won the first ODI on Thursday by cruising to victory by an 81-run margin.
