Ian Bell "put things right" with century against the West Indies

Bell: 'I put things right'

England batsman Ian Bell has admitted that his century on day one against the West Indies was extra special as it banished bad memories of his previous tour in the Caribbean.

Bell scored 143 in Antigua as England recovered from a wobbly start to post 341-5 at the end of day one, with Joe Root (81) and Ben Stokes (71*) also in the runs.

Six years ago, Bell was dropped from the team following England's infamous display in Jamaica, where they were bowled out for just 51 in the second innings on the way to defeat.

He told Sky Sports News: "For me, it was nice - coming here in 2009, this was where I got dropped after our shemozzle in Jamaica, so I was determined to come out and play as well as I could. It was nice to come back and put things right."

Bell now has 22 Test centuries.
