Jonny Bairstow fell agonisingly short of his maiden Test century during the morning session on day two of the third Test against South Africa at Lord's.

The youngster, who started the day on 72, was bowled by Morne Morkel for 95 as England went in for lunch on 277-8.

Matt Prior was the first batsman to be dismissed when he went for 27 off the bowling of Vernon Philander.

Stuart Broad then fell victim to Dale Steyn on 16 before Bairstow was sent back to the pavilion.

Graeme Swann (14) and Jimmy Anderson (9) are currently at the crease for England, who trail South Africa by 32 runs.
