Ravichandran Ashwin says that Cheteshwar Pujara is in great form at the moment following his unbeaten century on the first day of the second Test against England in Mumbai.

Ravichandran Ashwin has praised Cheteshwar Pujara's unbeaten innings of 114 on the first day of the second Test against England.

The Indian number three's knock led the fightback from 119-5 in Mumbai and he and Ashwin (60) will resume play tomorrow on 266-6 having built a 97-run partnership.

"I thought it was a brilliant knock," said Aswin. "He trusted his defence and it was a very well-paced innings.

"He's got a great temperament, and is in great form, and he's someone who will keep on grinding the runs. He doesn't get small hundreds, he gets big ones."

England failed to dismiss Pujara in the first Test in Ahmedabad.
