James Anderson reveals his admiration for England teammate Samit Patel following the all-rounder's performance against India 'A' in Mumbai.

James Anderson has praised Samit Patel for his performance in England's draw with India 'A' in Mumbai.

Patel hit a century and took two wickets in the warm-up match ahead of the Test series, causing Anderson to reveal his admiration for the spinner's temperament.

"I thought he was outstanding in this game, showed great temperament and just looked calm and controlled," said Anderson. "He played at his own tempo - Cooky at the other end, playing at his, which is very different to Samit's - and I thought they complemented each other very well.

"He's a very good all-round player. He plays spin very well. He was very controlled and composed out there, and that's what you need in these conditions."

The Test series against India begins on November 15 in Ahmedabad.
