Adil Rashid delighted with performance on return to side

Adil Rashid delighted with return

Adil Rashid has admitted that his return to international cricket could not have been better after helping England to an emphatic win over New Zealand.

The Yorkshire all-rounder scored 69 in England's record score of 408-9 before taking 4-55 to help the hosts secure victory in the first one-day international at Edgbaston, and he was delighted with his performance following a spell of almost six years battling to earn a recall.

"I don't think I could ask for anything more, a few runs and a few wickets. Hopefully, long may it continue," Rashid told the ECB's website.

"The main aim was to have fun. That was what all our things are based around. When you're batting, have fun, when you're bowling, have fun and when you're fielding, have fun.

"A positive and aggressive mindset. Sometimes it might not come off but if you have that mindset more often that not it will come off."

The two sides meet in the second ODI at The Oval on Friday.
