Steven Finn is picked to be England's fourth bowler ahead of Tim Bresnan for the first Ashes Test.

England have selected Steven Finn as part of their starting XI for the first Ashes Test against Australia in Nottingham this morning.

While the remainder of the lineup was all but known, it was believed that Finn and Tim Bresnan had been vying for the final bowling slot.

However, coach Andrew Flower and captain Alastair Cook have opted for Finn's pace ahead of Yorkshire's Bresnan.

Meanwhile, Ashton Agar and Steven Smith, who were not in Australia's original squad for the series, have been included for the tourists.

England: Cook, Root, Trott, Pietersen, Bell, Bairstow, Prior, Broad, Swann, Finn, Anderson

Australia: Watson, Rogers, Cowan, Clarke, Hughes, Smith, Haddin, Siddle, Pattinson, Starc, Agar
