Chris Woakes tips Ian Bell to find form in third Test

Chris Woakes believes that Ian Bell can prove his critics wrong by finding his form in the third Ashes Test at Edgbaston.

Chris Woakes has backed Ian Bell to find his best form in next week's third Ashes Test at Edgbaston.

Despite passing 30 just once in his last 12 Test innings, Bell has been moved up to number three in the batting order after the England selectors responded to Australia's 405-run triumph at Lord's by replacing Gary Ballance with Jonny Bairstow.

Woakes believes that the move will bring the best out of his Warwickshire teammate on his home ground, with the series currently level at 1-1.

"He's got it all," the all-rounder told BBC Sport. "I've played with Bell for a long time - he's a world-class batsman.

"He's not in the best form at the moment but with the next Test at Edgbaston, his home ground, hopefully he'll produce the goods.

"Being promoted to number three will be a good thing for him."

Bell has failed to score a Test century in five matches at Edgbaston.
